The arena goes dark, a drumline starts pounding, and an armored knight with a sword steps out in front of a castle to fight a villain dressed for the visiting team. Then the puck drops. A Vegas Golden Knights home game is a hockey game wrapped in a Las Vegas production, and it's one of the few sports tickets in town that works just as well for someone who has never watched hockey. The 2026-27 campaign is the team's tenth, and the club bills it as Season X.
Before the puck drops
Game night starts outside, on the plaza in front of T-Mobile Arena, recently renamed Paramount+ Plaza, where crowds gather well before the doors open. Inside, the Vegas Golden Knights run the pregame show that made them famous in their first season: the castle, the Golden Knight and his sword, a glowing drumline, and a narrated good-versus-evil story aimed at that night's opponent. It was created by a production chief who came from World Wrestling Entertainment, which explains a lot, and the team revamped it for this season's opener. Be in your seat before it starts.

Where: T-Mobile Arena, between New York-New York and Park MGM, center Strip. When: NHL regular season, from the fall into April, with home dates most weeks. Run time: roughly 150 minutes for a game decided in regulation. Best for: sports fans, families with kids old enough to stay up, and groups who want a loud night that isn't a show.
How the game itself runs
An NHL game is three 20-minute periods of playing time, with two intermissions of about 18 minutes in between. The clock stops for every whistle, which is why 60 minutes of hockey fill most of an evening. It moves quickly anyway. If it's tied after regulation, a five-minute overtime is played three skaters a side, and if nobody scores, a shootout settles it. Intermissions are when the concourse fills, so the best time for a drink run is the last minute of a period, not the first minute of the break. Chance, the team's Gila monster mascot, works the crowd all night.
From expansion team to Stanley Cup
The Golden Knights are Las Vegas's first major-league team, and they started fast. In their very first season, 2017-18, they reached the Stanley Cup Final before losing to the Washington Capitals. Then came 2023. That June they won the Cup, beating the Florida Panthers in five games. That history is why the arena still treats every home night like an event. Fans here learned the sport watching a winner.
Fitting a game into your trip
T-Mobile Arena sits right off the Strip, a short walk from New York-New York, Park MGM, Excalibur and the MGM Grand area, so most center and south Strip hotels are on foot. No cab needed. The schedule moves with the NHL calendar and the team's road trips, which is why the booking widget only shows the home games Vegas.com has on sale. In December, a Golden Knights night pairs well with the rest of the month in our Las Vegas in December guide, and the same arena hosts UFC 335 on December 12.
