Silverton is the kind of Las Vegas hotel that takes a little explaining. On Thursdays through Sundays, free live mermaid shows take place in that same tank, making it one of the more genuinely strange and delightful sights in the city.
The property draws guests who actively want distance from the density of the central Strip: independent travellers, outdoors enthusiasts, and families who find the lodge setting more comfortable than a 50-story glass tower. Attached directly to the casino by an interior walkway is a two-story Bass Pro Shops flagship - modelled after an Adirondack hunting lodge - where a waterfall feeds into a 40,000-gallon aquarium used for fishing demonstrations. Archery and shooting ranges sit inside the same building. It is a retail experience that would feel at home in the Ozarks, which is more or less the idea. The Mermaid Cove Art Gallery nearby sells original mermaid paintings by artist Wil Comier, rounding out a property that is equal parts casino, nature exhibit, and curio cabinet.
Silverton sits west of Las Vegas Boulevard at the Blue Diamond Road exit off I-15, placing it about five miles south of the central Strip - a drive of roughly ten minutes without traffic. That separation keeps the surrounding area noticeably quieter than anything closer to Caesars or the Bellagio fountains. Guests who do want to head north toward the main casino corridor can do so by car with ease, and free on-site parking is available in a five-story garage. For those flying in, the hotel runs a complimentary airport shuttle reserved exclusively for hotel guests, though reservations must be arranged in advance - it does not operate as an on-demand pickup. The arrival approach along Blue Diamond Road feels distinctly different from the Strip: less spectacle, more space.
The dining lineup at Silverton covers a wider range than most off-Strip properties at this scale. Twin Creeks is the steakhouse anchor, built for a proper sit-down meal. Mi Casa Grill Cantina handles Mexican in a brightly lit, festive room. Wu Hu Noodle brings Asian noodle dishes into the mix, and Sundance Grill offers cafe-style food alongside a gelato counter. Mermaid Restaurant & Lounge positions its seating to overlook the aquarium directly, which makes it the obvious choice for guests who want to eat while watching the tank. Seasons Buffet rounds out the main dining options. For drinks, Shady Grove Lounge contains a vintage 1950s Airstream trailer converted into a space with two mini bowling lanes inside - worth seeing regardless of whether you order anything.
First-time guests often underestimate how much there is to do before they ever reach the casino floor. The walk from the parking garage through the main entrance moves past the aquarium relatively quickly, but most people stop longer than they planned once the sharks come into view. The casino itself feels open and unhurried compared to Strip properties - the ceiling is higher, the crowd thinner during the day, and the lodge decor gives the room a warmth that slot floors rarely have. Evenings bring more activity around Flare Bar and the lounge areas, while afternoons near the aquarium tend to fill with families watching the tank.
