Sam's Town
Sam's Town is a western-themed resort on Boulder Highway that operates on a different logic than the Strip properties closer to the center of Las Vegas. Its gravitational pull is Mystic Falls Park, a 25,000-square-foot climate-controlled atrium right in the middle of the complex, complete with live trees, cobblestone paths, a waterfall, and running brooks. Every evening the park hosts the free 'Sunset Stampede' show - lasers, dancing fountains, and a light display set to music recorded by the Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestra. It's genuinely hard to describe without sounding like you're making it up.
The 646-room property is built for guests who want more than a bed between casino sessions. A 56-lane bowling center fitted with AMF equipment anchors one wing, the Century 18 Sam's Town cinema runs current releases, and a video game arcade rounds out the entertainment options. Sam's Town Live brings in headliners and live events, while Roxy's Lounge puts local bands on stage nightly. The three-level casino covers blackjack, craps, roulette, pai gow poker, Let It Ride, Caribbean Stud Poker, Madness 21, mini-baccarat, Megabucks, Super Megabucks, slots, video poker, a poker room, a keno lounge, and a dedicated bingo room.
The dining lineup tilts firmly toward carnivores. The Angry Butcher handles the steak end of things in a lodge-style setting, and the Firelight Buffet runs open rotisseries and carving stations, adding a seafood spread on Friday nights. For meetings, 30,000 square feet of convention and banquet space breaks down into rooms ranging from 720 square feet to a 10,000-square-foot ballroom, and there's also an observation deck available for wedding ceremonies. The 13,000-square-foot race and sports book is among the larger dedicated sports wagering spaces in the area. T.G.I. Mystic Falls Park stays active through the afternoon and draws a crowd for the evening 'Sunset Stampede' shows - arrive a few minutes early to secure a decent vantage point along the atrium paths. The bowling center and cinema draw a mixed crowd of resort guests and locals, which means the lanes can fill up on weekend evenings. The casino floor is spread across three levels, so it takes a walk-around to get a feel for the layout - the poker room and bingo room are worth locating early if those are your games. The property genuinely comes into its own during the holiday season, when Mystic Falls Park takes on a different character entirely with seasonal installations.
