Universal Horror Unleashed: Four Haunted Houses, All Year

Leatherface, Dracula, a field of scarecrows and two possessed schoolgirls, all under one roof off the Strip, open 365 nights a year. Here's what each of the four houses is like, how scary it really gets and how to plan the night.

Take Me to Tickets

Universal Horror Unleashed is worth it for anyone who likes a real scare: four live-actor haunted houses from the team behind Halloween Horror Nights, inside AREA15, open all year rather than just in October. It opened on August 14, 2025, so horror fans no longer have to wait for fall to get Universal's scare style. The houses are short and intense. The bars between them are half the night.

What you get for one ticket

Universal Horror Unleashed fills a converted warehouse in AREA15's Zone 2, dressed as an abandoned film studio lot where the monsters got loose after the crew went home. One general admission ticket covers the common areas and one walk through each of the four houses, and it includes AREA15 admission. You choose the order. Staff send guests into each house a few at a time, so a room can feel staged just for you, and the actors use that. Nobody hides at the back of the line here.

Universal Monsters: where the studio's horror began

The first house is a love letter to the films that made Universal the horror studio: Dracula and Frankenstein in 1931, The Mummy in 1932, Bride of Frankenstein in 1935. You move from Dracula's castle to the Mummy's tombs to Frankenstein's lab, where the Bride is waiting at the end. It's the most beautiful house of the four and the gentlest. Start here. It warms up the nerves.

Scarecrow: The Reaping

The second house has no movie behind it, and that's what makes it work: you don't know the story, so you can't guess the next scare. It's 1930s farmland somewhere in the Midwest, the harvest has gone wrong, and the scarecrows have come down off their posts for revenge. Corn, straw and things that move when they shouldn't. No spoilers exist.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Tobe Hooper's 1974 film is the blueprint for half the horror made since, and this house puts you inside the family's farmhouse with Leatherface somewhere nearby. You hear the saw before you see it. The set dressing is grim in the way the film is grim, all bones and rot and a dinner table you do not want a seat at. Loud house. Fast house.

Blumhouse's The Exorcist: Believer

The newest story is based on Blumhouse's 2023 sequel to The Exorcist, following two girls, Katherine and Angela, who vanish in the woods and return possessed. It trades jump scares for dread, with voices, bodies in the wrong positions and a slow walk toward the exorcism itself. People leave this one quietly. Save it for last.

Between the houses: the bars and the characters

The common areas are their own show, and the part that turns a 30-minute haunt into a full night. Jack's Alley Bar belongs to Jack the Clown, the giggling host Halloween Horror Nights fans already know. The Boiler Bar is built around a flaming mechanical centerpiece. Premiere House pours drinks in a Blumhouse-themed lounge, and Rough Cuts serves small plates in the Kill Vault. Characters work the crowd out here too, so the scares don't stop when you leave a house. Food and drinks cost extra. Pace yourself.

How to plan the night

Tickets are sold for one date, with no refunds and no date changes, so choose the night before you buy. Last entry to the houses is two hours before closing, which is also the venue's hint about how long a full visit runs. Parking at AREA15 is free. Weeknights outside October are the calm option; October weekends bring the longest lines of the year. Wear shoes you can move in. You will move.

A fair warning

The actors get close, shout in your face and follow you down dark corridors, and the gore and possession scenes hold nothing back. Under-13s, and anyone who panics in tight dark spaces, should sit this one out.

When the answer changes

Planning a full day at AREA15? Our AREA15 guide covers Omega Mart and the John Wick Experience in the same complex, and the three fit one long afternoon and evening. Go early. In Las Vegas for Halloween week itself, our Las Vegas haunted houses guide lines it up against the seances, scare shows and escape rooms in town.

The short version

For the scariest night you can book in Las Vegas in any month, Universal Horror Unleashed is the one: four houses, one ticket, and a bar crawl through a haunted studio in between. Bring a friend. The rest of the season is on our Halloween in Las Vegas page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Universal Horror Unleashed take?

Each haunted house takes only a few minutes to walk through, about six on average, but most visitors spend far longer in total because of the lines, the themed bars and the characters in the common areas. Plan on most of an evening if you want the bars too.

Is Universal Horror Unleashed scary?

Yes. The scares come from live actors rather than animatronics, with jump scares in tight spaces and loud effects. Universal Monsters is the mildest house; The Exorcist: Believer and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre are the most intense. Serious haunt fans may find the scare style familiar, but first-timers rarely do.

Is Universal Horror Unleashed worth it, or should I wait for Halloween Horror Nights?

Halloween Horror Nights runs only in the fall at Universal's Orlando and Hollywood parks. Universal Horror Unleashed brings the same team's style to Las Vegas every night of the year, with four houses instead of a full park. For a Vegas trip in any month, it's the closest thing on offer.

Can kids go to Universal Horror Unleashed?

It's recommended for ages 13 and up. The houses include gore, possession themes and actors who get close, so younger children tend to have a rough time. Teenagers who like horror movies are the right age, ideally with an adult in the group.

How do you get to Universal Horror Unleashed from the Strip?

It's at AREA15, 3051 S. Rancho Drive, a short ride west of the Strip across I-15. A rideshare drops you at the AREA15 entrance, and drivers can use the free lot. Zone 2, where the houses are, is signposted from the main building.
