The Weekend in One Line
For one weekend a year Las Vegas turns into the best Latin music festival in the country, and this is it. Mexican Independence Day falls on Wednesday, so the Strip front-loads the celebration into these three nights: ten Latin headliners across six properties, several of them playing a single date and then gone. If that is not your music, Friday has a rock alternative and Saturday has a late comedy option. Here it is night by night, plus two daytime picks that take a September afternoon seriously.
Friday, September 11
Mana play T-Mobile Arena on Friday, one night, and they are the largest booking of the weekend by room size. Four decades in, the Guadalajara band remains the most successful Latin rock act there has ever been, and an arena crowd singing their catalog back at them is the sort of thing that justifies the trip on its own. This is the pick if you are choosing one show all weekend.

Marco Antonio Solis takes Dolby Live at Park MGM at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, which makes him the most forgiving booking on this list if Friday is already spoken for. He has been writing the songs other people build careers on since the seventies, and a Dolby Live crowd knows every one of them. Two nights, so there is no need to rearrange the weekend around him.

Carin Leon plays Sphere at 8:00 p.m. on all three nights, which is the smartest way to see him this weekend: pick whichever evening the rest of your plans leave open. Regional Mexican music in the highest-resolution room ever built is still a genuinely new idea, and his country-leaning banda and norteno suits a venue that rewards atmosphere over pyrotechnics. Godsmack is Friday's counterprogramming, at PH Live inside Planet Hollywood at 8:00 p.m. for a single night and 90 minutes. Thirty years of hard rock played by a band that never chased a trend and never needed to, in a theater small enough that the volume becomes a physical fact. Saturday, September 12
Los Angeles Azules take PH Live at 8:00 p.m., one night, 90 minutes, and no band on this list will get more people out of their seats. The Grammy-nominated group from Iztapalapa turned cumbia into something that crosses every age bracket in the room, and a Saturday night crowd in Las Vegas is exactly the audience for it. Zoe return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday for a single night. Mexican rock built on psychedelic textures rather than volume, and The Colosseum is a better room for that than its size suggests. It is the more contemplative option against the cumbia happening at the same hour half a mile north, and 90 minutes is the right length for it.

Teo Gonzalez and Jorge Falcon are the most useful booking of the weekend, and it is the clock that does it. They play the Palazzo Theatre at 10:00 p.m., two hours after everything else has started, which makes their 90 minutes the one thing you can add to a full evening rather than choose instead of it. Marco Antonio Solis and Carin Leon both play their second night on Saturday too, so the only things genuinely locked to Friday are Mana and Godsmack.
Sunday, September 13
Sunday is usually where a Las Vegas weekend runs out of road. Not this one, and it is the best argument for staying the extra night. Los Tucanes de Tijuana play PH Live at 8:00 p.m., one night only, 90 minutes, with nearly four decades of norteno behind them and a catalog that a certain generation can recite without prompting.

Soda Stereo bring the Ecos Tour to Dolby Live at Park MGM at 8:00 p.m., also Sunday only. The Argentine band effectively invented Latin alternative rock, and Ecos is built to carry that catalog forward rather than embalm it. Ninety minutes, one date, and it starts at the same minute as Los Tucanes, so Sunday makes you choose.

Marc Anthony runs Vegas... My Way! at the BleauLive Theater inside Fontainebleau across all three nights, salsa fire and pop shine in a room considerably smaller than an artist of his scale would normally command. What to Do Before the Sun Goes Down
A weekend this food-and-music heavy deserves a daytime plan in the same register. The Segway Foodie Tour runs three hours out of Downtown Container Park, rolling between tasting stops rather than walking them, which in September is the entire point. Riders need to be 12 or over and within a weight range of 80 to 350 pounds, and it puts you back well before any 8:00 p.m. curtain.

The louder option is south of the Strip. Vegas Superkarts at Speed Vegas runs the longest outdoor go-kart track in the city, in Sodikart RT10 machines that are a long way from a fairground ride, and snacks and soft drinks come with it. Drivers need to be 14 or over. It is the rare Las Vegas activity that works equally well for a group of adults and a family with teenagers.

Planning Notes
Three things to settle before you book. Saturday is the only night that holds two shows, because Teo Gonzalez and Jorge Falcon do not start until 10:00 p.m. while everything else goes up at 8:00, so if you want a double bill that is where to build it. Sunday is the opposite: Soda Stereo and Los Tucanes start at the same minute in different properties, and neither returns. And this is one of the busiest weekends on the Las Vegas calendar, so the Strip is fuller, the walk between resorts is slower than the map suggests, and cars take longer than usual to arrive.
