The Weekend in One Line
This weekend is built for people who like to sing back. Keith Urban brings Somebody Like You to the newest theater on the Strip, Earth, Wind & Fire hold the Venetian Friday through Sunday, while Switchfoot and Anberlin turn a Saturday backyard into a 2000s alt-rock reunion. Friday has the talkers too: Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes at the Palazzo, and Warrant downtown. Night by night, here's how it lays out.

Friday, October 16
Keith Urban plays BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau on Friday and Saturday. Raised in Australia and famous in Nashville, he plays lead guitar on his own records, which is why Somebody Like You and Blue Ain't Your Color sound bigger live than they do on the radio. BleauLive is a theater, not an arena, so the guitar solos come at you from close range.
When: Friday and Saturday. Where: BleauLive Theater, Fontainebleau Las Vegas, north Strip.
Earth, Wind & Fire play the Venetian Theatre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Maurice White founded the band in 1969, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted it in 2000, and September, Boogie Wonderland and Let's Groove still come with the full horn section. New Kids on the Block are at Dolby Live at Park MGM on Friday and Saturday. The Right Stuff is the group's first Las Vegas residency, and Hangin' Tough lands differently in a room full of people who owned the lunchbox.
When: Friday and Saturday. Where: Dolby Live, Park MGM. Run time: 90 minutes.
Jay and Silent Bob Save Vegas puts Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes on the Palazzo Theatre stage for one late night of stories from three decades of making movies together. Part stand-up, part live podcast, and it rarely stays on topic. More in our Palazzo Theatre October comedy guide.
When: Friday only, late show. Where: Palazzo Theatre, The Palazzo at The Venetian. Run time: 90 minutes. Ages: 16 and up.
Warrant take the downtown slot at the Golden Nugget Showroom for one night. Cherry Pie and Heaven made them a fixture of glam metal radio, and Robert Mason has sung lead with the band since 2008, so this is the working band rather than a reunion. Adults only.
When: Friday only. Where: The Showroom, Golden Nugget, downtown. Ages: 21 and over.
Saturday, October 17
Switchfoot headline Bel-Aire Backyard at Durango with Anberlin opening, one night under the open sky in the southwest valley. Meant to Live and Dare You to Move were everywhere in 2003 and 2004, and a standing crowd outdoors is the right room for choruses that size.

The Conjurors are the family pick, every night of the weekend at The Magicians Room on the LINQ Promenade. Matthew Pomeroy and Natasha Lamb are a husband-and-wife magic act, and the show mixes story, large illusions and mind-reading in a room small enough that the kids end up on stage. Keith Urban, Earth, Wind & Fire and New Kids on the Block all play again on Saturday, and the Vegas Golden Knights host the Pittsburgh Penguins at T-Mobile Arena.
Sunday, October 18
The Las Vegas Raiders host the Buffalo Bills at Allegiant Stadium, and Earth, Wind & Fire close their weekend at the Venetian. Our sports weekend guide covers the game.
Punk Rock Brunch runs on Saturday and Sunday at The Venue inside the Rio. Singers and dancers work through Green Day, Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance while an all-you-can-eat brunch runs alongside, and it's done well before the Raiders kick off. More in our Las Vegas brunch shows guide.
When: Saturday and Sunday, late morning. Where: The Venue, Masquerade Tower at Rio. Run time: 60 minutes. Ages: no restriction, 16 and up recommended. Booking: the show-only admission, which doesn't include the brunch itself.
Away From a Stage
Wild West Horseback Adventures heads out to a ranch in Moapa Valley on Friday, with a breakfast ride in the morning and a sunset dinner ride in the evening. Either way there's a 90-minute trail ride with a wrangler, a ranch meal, and hotel transport both ways, about five hours in all. Dinner is steak or mesquite-grilled chicken with apple pie. When: Friday. Where: Moapa Valley, with hotel pickup. Run time: about 5 hours, 90 minutes in the saddle. Ages: 6 and up. Booking: the Friday breakfast ride or sunset dinner ride.
Planning Notes
Fontainebleau sits at the north end of the Strip and the Venetian sits mid-Strip, so Urban and Earth, Wind & Fire on the same night would mean two different evenings rather than a double bill. Sunday is the busiest day on the roads, with a full Allegiant Stadium in the afternoon. And if Earth, Wind & Fire is your one booking, Sunday is the night with the least competition for it.
