John Mayer at Sphere is three concerts in one night. He opens alone, moves to a full band, then brings out the John Mayer Trio for a closing set of blues-rock, all under the dome's wraparound screen. The residency runs 21 shows from April 8 to June 12, 2027. If you've ever argued with a friend about which John Mayer is the real one, this settles it: you get all of them.
John Mayer at Sphere: the run
John Mayer at Sphere started as six April dates when it was announced in September 2026, grew to 18, and now stands at 21 with three June nights added. It's his first Sphere residency under his own name. He already knows the room, though: Mayer played 48 Sphere concerts with Dead & Company in 2024 and 2025.

Where: Sphere, behind The Venetian, center Strip. When: 21 shows, April 8 to June 12, 2027. Best for: guitar players, longtime fans and anyone who only knows "Gravity" and wants to find out why.

Three sets, three versions of Mayer
The format comes back from his 2017 The Search for Everything tour. The solo set is Mayer alone with an acoustic guitar, a piano and an electric guitar, the closest the night gets to a living-room show. The full band brings the radio songs, "New Light" and "Last Train Home" among them. Then the trio. Steve Jordan on drums and Pino Palladino on bass have backed some of the biggest names in rock, and with Mayer they stretch songs like "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" into long guitar workouts. Three moods, one ticket.
Why Sphere suits him
Sphere was built for sound as much as for the screen, with speakers spread across the whole interior, so a quiet acoustic passage carries to the back rows as clearly as the trio's loudest solo. Quiet works here. That matters for an artist whose show swings from a single guitar to a power trio. A dollar from every ticket goes to Mayer's Back to You Fund, and auctioned seats support Heart and Armor, the veterans' health foundation he started in 2012.
Planning the trip
Sphere connects to The Venetian by a walkway, so a Venetian or Palazzo room puts you minutes from the doors. No cab needed. Spring is a comfortable time on the Strip, before the summer heat. For the room itself, our Wizard of Oz at Sphere guide explains how the venue works, and our Las Vegas residencies guide covers who else has long runs on the Strip.
