Golden Gate Hotel and Casino Las Vegas Hotel
In 1931 the hotel was expanded and renamed Sal Sagev (Las Vegas spelled backwards). It got its current moniker, The Golden Gate, in 1955 when a group from San Francisco bought it.
While there are still touches of that Roaring '20s, speakeasy, swanky vibe to the hotel, it has all of the modern amenities you want as well. The 106-room hotel was renovated in 2005 with a luxury tower and 16 suites, a high-limit pit with dancing dealers (a modern reinterpretation of flappers) and a new lobby with historical artifacts on display. The rooms have all of the 21st century's conveniences too like 32-inch LG flat-screen TVs, wireless internet access, Keurig coffee makers and iPod docking stations.
In 2013, the Golden Gate celebrated the 80th anniversary of the end of Prohibition by renaming their original casino watering hole Bar Prohibition. You'll also find the more modern One Bar outside on Fremont Street, which features bartenders clad in bikinis dancing on the countertops, as well as flair bartenders spinning bottles for your entertainment.
Whether you're looking for an old-school Vegas atmosphere or modern rooms and the latest casino games you'll find it all at the Golden Gate. It's the vintage blend of past and present.
