It's a 3.5-star property that makes no pretense of being a boutique retreat - the scale is enormous, the energy is loud and communal, and the design leans into its medieval fantasy concept without ever taking itself too seriously. Families, groups on a budget, and first-time Vegas visitors all find a natural home here, because the property packs in genuine entertainment value without demanding that guests spend heavily to enjoy it.
The rooms themselves are conventionally furnished rather than themed - think clean, updated hotel-standard interiors rather than stone walls and tapestries. The Royal Tower and newly renovated Resort Tower categories give guests a clear choice between two distinct room stocks, with Strip-view options available in the Resort Tower line. Suites step up to Royal Luxury and Resort Luxury configurations for travellers who want more space without crossing into a different price tier entirely.
The casino floor is among the most fully stocked on this stretch of the Strip, running Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Mini-Baccarat, Pai Gow Poker, Caribbean Stud, Let It Ride, Big Six Wheel, Megabucks slots, video poker, and a dedicated poker room with both Texas Hold 'Em and 7-Card Stud. A non-smoking race and sports book sits separately, giving sports bettors a cleaner environment away from the main floor noise.
Excalibur occupies a corner position on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip, and its footprint connects directly to Luxor through an enclosed indoor passage - Luxor itself continues onward to Mandalay Bay the same way. On summer afternoons when pavement temperatures make outdoor walking genuinely unpleasant, that climate-controlled corridor is the sensible route between the three properties.
Guests arriving by car will find the approach easier from Frank Sinatra Drive rather than attempting to pull off the Strip directly. That route brings you around to the rear of the property and a three-story self-parking garage. From the garage you cross Luxor Drive on foot and enter through the back of the resort.
The entertainment lineup at Excalibur is genuinely diverse for a property at this price point. Tournament of Kings runs in the showroom as a dinner-and-jousting production, Mac King Comedy Magic Show brings a long-running close-up magic act to afternoon audiences, the Australian Bee Gees deliver a tribute concert experience, and Thunder From Down Under fills the adults-only entertainment slot. Dick's Last Resort doubles as both a dining destination and the property's main nightlife anchor, with its intentionally irreverent service style making it a recurring stop for groups.
The sheer size of Excalibur means that internal distances are longer than they look on a map. Walking from the parking garage entrance at the rear through to the main casino floor or the showroom takes several minutes, and the property's multiple towers mean that room locations vary quite a bit. Guests in the Resort Tower will navigate differently than those in the Royal Tower, so it's worth noting which building your room sits in before you arrive.
The castle exterior and the Fun Dungeon draw a family-heavy crowd, and the main corridors through the casino and toward the dining outlets get noticeably busy on weekend evenings. The non-smoking sports book is genuinely separated from the main casino floor, which makes it one of the calmer corners of the building during peak hours.
